PHILADELPHIA, Feb. 20 – State Rep. Babette Josephs, D-Phila., said there's a new online resource available for college-bound students and their families.
The Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency has launched a new electronic application program for students applying for a Pennsylvania State Grant.
"This online application will make it easier for students and their families to apply and should cut down on the amount of processing time needed, compared to the paper application," Josephs said. "This also should reduce the amount of paper applications that are needed, which will save trees and money."
Students first should make sure they have filled out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid before applying for a State Grant. Then, students can visit www.pheaa.org/grants to begin the online application process. The information from their online FAFSA will automatically pre-populate sections of their State Grant application. All that remains for the student would be to complete the remaining, non-FAFSA-related portions and submit it.
