HARRISBURG, Nov. 14 – The Women Legislators' Lobby has selected Rep. Babette Josephs, D-Phila., to serve as a state director for the organization.
WiLL is a nationwide non-partisan network of women legislators that works to influence legislation and budgetary policy at the federal and state levels.
"I am proud to serve as a WiLL state director, to work with women from all 50 states to amplify our voices, promote leaderships and support an agenda that promotes true homeland security and prosperity for both Pennsylvania and the nation," Josephs said.
On Josephs' appointment, WiLL president, U.S. Sen. Nan Grogan Orrock of Georgia said, "WiLL recognizes the accomplishments of Representative Babette Josephs and will benefit greatly from her leadership and vision as one of our state directors."
The organization made the appointment because of Josephs' leadership in the Pennsylvania General Assembly and in her community.
Since her election to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1984, Josephs has provided exemplary leadership on issues important to her constituents and to Pennsylvania. She has a proven legislative record of commitment to children, families and the disadvantaged, coupled with her belief in protecting the environment and sound budgeting to meet the needs of the future. A ranking woman legislator, Josephs has served as chairwoman of the House State Government Committee since 2001.
One of every three women legislators belongs to WiLL.
