PHILADELPHIA, March 10 – State Rep. Babette Josephs, D-Phila., said that the deadline for registering to vote or changing a party affiliation is Monday, March 24.
"Our primary this year is April 22, and in an usual twist, Pennsylvania could have a very real impact on the race for president, so if people want to make their voice heard, they should make sure they are registered to vote," said Josephs, chairwoman of the House State Government Committee, which reviews legislation related to voting.
To be eligible to vote in Pennsylvania, you must be at least 18 on the date of the election, a citizen of the UniteStates for at least one month before the election, and a resident of the election district in Pennsylvania in which you register at least 30 days before the election.
"This means if you will be 18 by the primary election, have moved or have just become a citizen, you can register to vote. Current registered voters also have until the March 24 deadline to change their party affiliation," she said.
Josephs explained that nonpartisan voters and those registered independent are not permitted to vote in a party primary.
Residents can register to vote in a number of ways: in person, by mail and even online.
