HARRISBURG, June 15 -- State Rep. Babette Josephs, D-Phila., is urging parents and their children to look into and get involved in the various summer programs offered by the city of Philadelphia.
One way to do that is to check out the available summer programs through the Philadelphia Safe and Sound Online Program Finder at www.philasafesound.org/programfinder.
"Our children's futures are only as bright as the opportunities that we create for them," Josephs said. "There are hundreds of summer camps and other programs available in all types of areas."
Josephs said the Philadelphia Safe and Sound program is designed to improve the health and well-being of children and youth in the Philadelphia region. The main goal of this program is to keep children safe, active and learning.
"These programs give children the opportunity to be active this summer -- to go swimming, paint murals, play computer games, join basketball leagues, learn fashion design, take part in plays and to go on field trips. It's a great opportunity and one that should be investigated if you have children."
This program gives parents the opportunity to find safe and fun summer programs in the neighborhoods just by logging on to the PSS Program finder or by calling 215-568-0620.
